CART/IRL events

Our local NSX group has had the privilege of participating in many CART and IRL events held in and around the Orlando area.  Here are a few photos of recent events.

CART brought their racing trailer to the Central Florida Auto show Thanksgiving weekend.  Fred Tenorio was our publicity contact.  Our local group helped to staff the display which featured a Lola Formula car, a Honda racing bike, a Mercedes pace car, and interactive video displays including Sony playstation racing games.

IRL came to town in December 10-12 to practice at the Disney Trioval for their upcoming race Jan.29th.  I was invited to attend the practice session through my race friends Leslie Windberg and Bobby Benner who are affiliated with Team Cheever.   Another Lake Nona friend Bob Tuccio and his wife are life-long friends of Scott Sharp and his family.  The sound of the IRL cars at 10,000 rpm was intoxicating!   Speeds of 175mph were obtained in the short straights with lap times of 21-22 seconds.
