NSX club meeting Sunday Jan.9, 2000
A foggy morning greeted NSX drivers when they arrived at my house in Windermere for the drive to St. Petersburg. The hit of the morning was the arrival of Ernie Wilding in his new S2000. Rick Cuevas has now found his dream car....wait, I thought it was an NSX! Then Gary Jensen showed up with his new Zanardi. Awesome.
Following a crisp drive through wonderful twisties our Orlando group met up with Joe Parotta and Scott McKay on the Tampa causeway, blasted through the remnants of morning fog for an on-time arrival at the Pier and lunch at the Columbia restaurant. The tourists crowded the 15 NSXs on display. It was a visual spectacle.
Gary Jensen brought his
brand new Zanardi NSX
new member John Butz and
his white NSX
the hit of the day!
...Ernie Wilding's silver S2000
After a delicious lunch it was off to race each other at the Mokart indoor track! Wow, what an experience.
It was a tight race for first place but the winner is Greg McCarthy!!
1st place Greg McCarthy Tampa 48.91
2nd place Bruce Pemberton Orlando 48.98
3rd place Scott McKay St. Petersburg 49.28
4th place Gary Jensen Orlando 49.35
5th place Joel Janco Key Largo 49.40
winners of our first
heat....Rick Cuevas THOUGHT he had third...
only to see TWO faster
times in the very last run unseat him!!
CONGRATULATIONS to all the NSX club winners. Looks like we'll have a rematch in the near future (we can't have the Tampa/St. Petersburg guys beating the Orlando folks...).
Our next meeting is planned for Saturday Feb.19, 2000 in Orlando....see you all there!
