Monterey to Las Vegas:  May 10-12, 1999

San Francisco is my favorite US city.  We spent two days there and ate ourselves silly.  On Tuesday May 11th we headed out of San Francisco through Marin Headlands and the Napa Valley driving twisty Rt.128 to Davis, CA.  We stopped at Comptech to have the bushings replaced on my front shocks.  We continued on east on Rt.50 into the Sierra Nevada towards Harvey's at Lake Tahoe, one of my favorite hotels.

We left for Las Vegas Wednesday May 12th taking a scenic but long eastward drive on Rt. 50 through north central Nevada.  The scenery was spectacular.  It was easy to forget how fast the car was going with 10-mile straights and not a car in sight.

Late the afternoon of May 12th we drove Rt.318 South from Lund to Hiko, the exact course the Nevada Open Road Race was run on.  One thing's for sure.   You'd die of boredom if you had to drive this road at 70mph.
