Saturday March18, 2000 club dinner and car show in Cocoa Village

The day dawned bright and sunny for our trip to the Space Coast. Joining us for his first NSXCA Florida meeting was Miled Salheb, NSXCA member from New York. TJ Wright and Brian Ledvora met up with Miled and Wei-Shen in Orlando. We picked up Gary Jensen in his newly supercharged Zanardi in southeast Orlando. Right away heads started turning as we cruised past the airport, picking up Brian Rasche in east Orlando.
Lynn Stedham, NSXCA Florida Secretary met our group in Cocoa Beach and led us on a short tour of rustic beachfront Cocoa....an interesting cross section of surfer dudes, beach babes, and snowbirds from the north (identified by their lobster skin tones). Mayor Judy Parrish and her husband Henry joined us for dinner along with NSXCA members Chris Prusinski and his family (from my hometown of Cleveland no less), Earl Van Kirk and new member Bernard Sher (black/camel 99 NSX-T).

Unfortunately it started raining during our great dinner at the Pier Restaurant. When we got back out to our cars, they were covered in sea salt spray mixed with dried raindrops...just in time for our trip to the Dixie Riders Car Show. Gary Jensen couldn't find his keys after dinner (note keys left in trunk lock in top photo). On his car he found a note...."your car keys have been turned in to the office"...WHEW! Could have had one less NSX when we returned...and a Z, no less. Thanks to whoever turned that key in. Gary, did you check your odometer and gas gauge?
We got to the car show about a half hour after it started. The streets were blocked off for a St. Patrick's Day party displacing the car show from it's normal location. That combined with the showers destroyed the attendance. There were only 15 cars there.....we added 8 more! Also, the downtown area was fenced off since admission was being charged for the party. As a result, very few people made it to see our cars. Bummer. Then it got dark....no lights in the parking lot....so we broke out the TVs and VCR and played some tapes of previous meetings and NSXPO99.
After the car show was over, some of us enjoyed the St. Patrick's day party. Mayor Judy and Henry gave a VIP tour of downtown Cocoa including the new lakefront park which is currently under construction. When completed in June, it will be beautiful. Judy would like to invite us back for the grand opening.
