Diamond Players Club, Clermont

Now here's something you won't find anywhere else in Florida....a true "mountain" golf course with outstanding vistas, hilly fairways, lots of wind, and very few trees. The view from the 15th tee (pictured above) is typical. Club selection is VERY difficult given the terrain and the freshening southeast breeze. This course is brand new, having opened at the beginning of 2000. Fairways have grown in but the greens are still a bit sparse. From the tips it plays 6911yds, par 71, although it could easily feel like 7400 on days when the wind is up. The 205yd. 2nd hole (pictured below) is a classic example....it was a knock down 7 iron with a 50 ft. elevation drop and a tail wind! This hole plays 250 from the back tees.

The views from the clubhouse include downtown Orlando and Lake Apopka. The restaurant has an excellent menu with dining outside in the setting sun a reward for a tough day on the links. Diamond Players Club is still easy to get on but I expect tee times to fill once the general public finds out about the course. Rates are reasonable ($42 Florida residents weekdays) and they are on the Prestige Club. Phone number is 352-243-0411. The course is located right on Highway 50 just east of Clermont.
See you all there!
