Chin Motorsports Driving School Aug 13, 2000

Gloomy skies and torrential rains threatened to washout our track day as horrible weather covered the state all day Saturday Aug.12th. NSXs hydroplaned to the Chateau Elan Sebring for our 3rd track event of 2000. Despite the weather 14 cars made the trip, most on Saturday, some on Sunday morning.
For some, the first item of business was....you guessed it...cleaning our cars. Then there were the usual items that everyone forgot to bring....RAIN TIRES, long sleeved shirts and long pants (it's Florida in AUGUST for crying out loud), spare brake pads, tire pressure gauge, etc.
There were three speeding tickets that I know about....the best ticket, 92 in a 65!

The Chateau Elan did a great job of hosting our usual Saturday evening banquet. There was a "Around the World Buffet"....a combination of Mexican, Oriental, and Italian goodies with good ol' American DESSERT. We had our biggest turnout yet....48 people...to be eclipsed by the 80+ who made it to the lunch buffet on Sunday, overwhelming the hotel conference room. They RAN OUT OF FOOD!

After the classroom session where we AGAIN stressed NO PASSING in the first 30 minute novice drivers session. I checked the weather radar before hitting the sack and crossed my fingers one more time.
Sunday morning dawned SUNNY and warm with only a few high cirrus clouds glazing the sun. We all gathered for a drivers meeting at 8am, paired up instructors and students and proceeded to run the ENTIRE DAY without a single "incident". We did have some FIRSTS....and special mentions...
I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE GREAT TRACK PHOTOS OF CARS INSERTED HERE. IF YOU HAVE SOME, PLEASE EMAIL THEM TO wchin@NSXFlorida.com and I will put them on this page!
ALSO, MANY OF YOU HAVE GREAT IN-CAR FOOTAGE. PLEASE EITHER COPY THE TAPE AND SEND IT TO ME, OR MAKE AN MPEG FILE OF YOUR "BEST" STUFF AND EMAIL TO ME.

only the inside pad of both his rear calipers is actually doing any braking!
After the 5pm "whistle", many of us returned to the Chateau Elan to shower, cool down, and generally goof off prior to our drives home. Thanks to all the participants who helped to make this another successful Chin Motorsports Driving School.
A reminder that our next event is Sunday Nov.5th 2000. We will be either on the 1.8 mile short course OR the new 1.5 mile GT course that is scheduled to open on Nov.1. See you then!
