Nicole Marie Chin, born Oct.7, 2009 at 104am

6lbs, 2oz   19 inches

Winnie Palmer Hospital, Orlando, FL

God has blessed our family again with the birth of our second daughter Nicole.  Lynn went into false labor the week before and got everybody excited only to be sent home after spending most of the day at the OB's office.  On Monday evening Oct.5th, Lynn became concerned that the baby wasn't moving as much and we ended up in triage at 1am to get evaluated.  Her blood pressure was up and there was concern for pre-eclampsia.  However, all labs and clinical findings were negative and we were advised to schedule induction for the next day.

Things went smoothly on admission to Winnie Palmer and Oxytocin was started at 6pm.  Lynn was fortunate to have a fantastic dula, Susan Smolen, her best friend from medical school and a fellow physician.  Lynn again refused pain medicine (wish I had some).  Grandma and Grandpa were also close at hand.  Lynn contracted with more intensity over the next 6 hours and was ready to deliver at 1230am.  She progressed so quickly towards the end that her OB never made it to the hospital to deliver Nicole and instead we were able to flag down the chief OB resident to perform the duties!

Nicole was a screamer from the word GO!  She quickly found satisfaction with nursing at the breast and fed very well during her 2 day hospital stay.  Lynn recovered very quickly and was up and about the next morning.  Other than a little jaundice, quite common in Asian babies, Nicole was given a clean bill of health and we were discharged to home 48 hours later.  Sleeping in our own bed never felt so good!

We are SO thankful for all our friends and family who helped us during the days and weeks after delivery.  Thank you all for your cards, flowers, gifts, thoughts and prayers!

Our new address is 1312 Lake Whitney Drive, Windermere, FL  34786.  Please stop by if you're in the neighborhood.

Being a newborn is very tiring stuff.  It's a lot of work to eat, poop, and sleep all day and night.
