Miami NSXCA Florida Chapter meeting July 1-2

Scott McKay readies his car for a caravan to South Florida Performance dyno
The largest turnout of NSXs, 24 different cars, graced the roads of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale during our two day NSX festival July 1-2. Cars arrived from Tampa and Orlando to meet local Miami area members Nelson Landa, Dave Parker and Richard Schneider who put all their efforts into a great weekend of fun! Everybody had a great time despite what appeared to be a private rain event that deluged the area all three days while the rest of Florida was dry!

Friday night's car show at the Tower Shops became a car wash with 4 inches of rain, thunder, lightning, and high winds that closed I-95 for an hour. The hotel was high and dry, not a drop, just 5 miles away.
Saturday dawned sunny..at first. We began the day at South Florida Performance where Frank Smith and his crew tested 9 of our cars. Results will be posted when completed.

After comparing horsepower, torque, and air/fuel mixtures, it was off to Miami Acura for a luncheon hosted by Parts Manager Steve Hoppe. More NSXs arrived to join the fun including Dave Parker, Richard Schneider, and Tom Mullane. New members Neil and Susan Useden brought their 99 black/black sportshift.

After our luncheon, the rains began. It rained all afternoon and early evening effectively washing out cruise night in Kendall. We all met at Fuddruckers anyway for dinner and welcomed Brian Payton from Delray Acura who brought a never titled brand new red/camel 2000 NSX-T for us to salivate over. Welcome Brian! By 8pm, the rains quit and people started showing up in droves. Many NSXs stayed until 9pm when we went our separate ways.....some to the clubs of South Beach and Ft. Lauderdale, others to Dave and Mimi Parker's house for "tea and cookies". I'll post any "club" pictures you guys send me!

The rains ended late Saturday night and Sunday again dawned clear and warm. The cars were washed....AGAIN. Joshua Feingold joined us in his red S2000 and led our 9 car NSX caravan on a great morning drive through Miami, South Beach, Key Biscayne on our way to lunch at the Rusty Pelican.

Lunch was AWESOME. There was every possible brunch item include a dessert table that just couldn't be ignored. Champagne was included and I'm told the Bloody Mary's were great. We all feasted in an effort to improve on the rear weight bias of the NSX. The Miami skyline was beautiful.

The brunch was a fine ending to a wonderful weekend. True to form, just as lunch was over, thunderstorms hit AGAIN and put us underwater for the third day in a row!
Our next planned meeting is the weekend of Aug.12-13 to be held at the Chateau Elan Sebring in conjuction with Chin Motorsports driving school on Sunday Aug.13th. See you all there!
